Sustainable Communities Act

The Sustainable Communities Act 2007 is a new law that provides local authorities and local communities with the opportunity to ask central government to devolve more power to them in order to improve the sustainability of their local area.

It starts from the principle that local people know best what needs to be done to promote sustainability and central government will be asking local authorities each year to submit ideas on how, working in partnership with the local community, it can help to improve the sustainability of the local area.

South Gloucestershire Council has 'opted in' to the Sustainable Communities Act which gives its residents the opportunity to come up with proposals to improve the place where they live and we would like to hear your ideas.

We welcome your ideas for improving your local area and community. You can submit a proposal to us by completing the project proposal form under Read More. The deadline for proposals 2009/10 is Friday 26 June 2009

Workshop

We are holding a workshop on Thursday 11 June from 5-7pm at the Ridgewood Centre, Yate
