The Corporate Parenting Action Plan forms the basis of the council's framework to achieve the aims and objectives of the corporate parenting strategy. It reflects the council's belief that all of our children and young people deserve the best possible start in life, have access to services that will enable them to overcome disadvantage and that the whole council has a part to play in the corporate parenting responsibilities to achieve this end.

The strategy, which is monitored and overseen by the Corporate Parenting Steering Group is a 'living' document that must continually adapt to meet the changing needs of our children and young people and drive forward the agenda for continuous improvement. The actions required by these changes are detailed in the action plan until achieved and embedded in practice within departments. The details of a project or initiative will then be transferred to the 'Present Activities' document. New initiatives which have been agreed, will be placed on the action plan. In this manner, continuous improvement can be monitored and access to information can be maintained.

The action plan will be updated at least twice a year.
