Our programme for preparing local development documents is set out in the Local Development Scheme (often referred to as the LDS). The current Scheme covers the period 2011 - 2013.
The current programme for document preparation can be viewed in the 'Read More' box on the right hand side of this page. The 2007-2009 version is retained in the 'Read More' box as it provides background information which is still relevant.
Our work priorities in the Local Development Scheme 2011-2013 are:
Core Strategy DPD (Development Plan Document)
Work on the Core Strategy DPD is at an advanced stage. It was submitted to the Secretary of State for examination on 31 March 2011.
Joint Waste Core Strategy DPD
The Joint Waste Core Strategy was prepared jointly with Bristol City, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset Councils. The DPD has been found 'sound' following examination by an independent inspector in November 2010 and was adopted on 25 March 2011.
Neighbourhood Development Plans (tbc)
The Government has recently announced in the Localism Bill its intention to introduce Neighbourhood Plans, to be prepared by parish and town councils / neighbourhood forums with the support of the Local Planning Authority to guide development in their local communities. Neighbourhood Plans will be required to be in general conformity with the development plan and will form part of the LDF following a public examination/ enquiry process and a positive outcome at the referendum stage.
Policies, Sites and Places DPD
This document will include development control policies, planning policies and an implementation framework for regeneration sites and neighbourhood development plans in accordance with the Core Strategy.
