Firework displays

Fireworks

Firework displays should be enjoyable occasions. If organisers take the necessary precautions, they should also be safe occasions.

This information relates to firework displays where the organisers set off the fireworks themselves and have no specialist knowledge. The event will typically attract 100 or more spectators.

It is not intended for small-scale private family firework displays, when the instructions supplied with the fireworks will normally be adequate. Nor is intended for displays using Category 4 fireworks, which can only be used by fireworks professionals.

Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Acts 1974, organisers of public displays have responsibilities to ensure the safety both of employees and members of the public. We therefore recommend organisers of publicly attended displays to contact us for advice.
