Travellers

VW camper van
The word 'traveller' is used to identify a number of diverse groups, including gypsy travellers, travellers of Irish heritage, showmen (circus and fairground families) and new travellers. There are two authorised traveller sites and more than 100 unauthorised encampments within South Gloucestershire.

The travellers unit is responsible for managing encampments on council-owned land and providing a contact point for travellers who want to access council services. We also advise and support those affected by unauthorised encampments, for example landowners.
