Vinney Green has contracts with the following healthcare professionals who attend the unit: - Forensic psychiatrist
- Clinical psychologist
- GP
- Nurse
- Specialist drugs worker
Young people will have access to forensic services. Reports are available where applicable and specifically requested. Young people can also have individual input which includes any necessary treatment whilst at the unit, including drugs detoxification.
Each young person will be given a medical examination within 24 hours of admission, except at weekends, unless it is an emergency. This is to check that the young person is healthy or that the unit is aware of any medical problems and to obtain any necessary prescribed medication.
A nurse is in attendance on a daily basis from Monday to Friday and will advise young people and staff caring for them about health-related matters. All young people are registered at the local health centre. A general practitioner holds a weekly surgery at the unit.
The unit also supplies the following healthcare services by escorting the young person to outside providers:
- Dentist
- Opticians
- Emergency A&E
- Any in- or out-patient treatments
