Street lighting

Street light

South Gloucestershire Council look after about 29,000 street lights and 4,500 lit road traffic signs in the area.

We inspect each light at night every two weeks. If any are not working, our lighting contractor returns in daylight and repairs the light. This usually happens within five working days, though some can take a little longer (for example, if the problem lies with the electricity supply, which is not our responsibility).

It is very helpful if you report any faults you notice. This usually means the light will be repaired more quickly.

Street lighting does not include traffic signals. To report a faulty traffic light, please call 0800 854229.
