What we do?
We offer Parenting courses which support parents to build positive relationships with their children, increase their self esteem and encourage better behaviour.
What is a parenting course?
A parenting course offers parents and carers the chance to come together to share ideas and learn new skills to help in the parenting of their children. Courses are held throughout the year at venues around South Gloucestershire and are delivered to groups of up to twelve parents at a time.
A range of courses are available for parents of different aged children from toddlers up to teenagers. All courses run weekly for about two hours and are held in the evenings.
What is covered in the parenting course?
Parenting courses support parents to build positive relationships with their children, increase their self esteem and encourage better behaviour. The programmes cover a combination of positive parenting skills (such as using praise and rewards; playing with children and communicating effectively), and positive limit setting techniques (such as agreeing house rules and what to do when they are broken.) A range of methods are used to help people learn and develop new skills including group discussions, watching DVDs, role plays and practicing things at home. Programmes are run in a fun and friendly atmosphere and parents say that they enjoy meeting other parents with similar goals.
