Most gullies (drains) at the edge of roads get emptied and cleaned once every year to make sure water can flow away freely. A few are cleaned more frequently. If you notice a blocked gully, please contact us.
Culverts
We maintain culverts under highways. If a privately owned drain or ditch is culverted and passes underneath the highway, we will still maintain that part of it. Either side of the highway, it is the owner's responsibility to maintain it.
Drainage ditches
These are usually maintained privately unless they have been created by the council or the council has agreed to maintain them.
