Recipe for Dorset Apple Cake

Ingredients


Wholemeal flour 2 oz
Margarine 2 oz
Demerara sugar 2½ oz
Apples (cooking) ½ medium
Eggs (beaten) 1small
Sultanas 1½oz
Baking powder pinch

Serves four persons.

Method

  • Peel and grate the apples
  • Cream together the margarine and ¾ of the sugar
  • Beat in the eggs
  • Fold in the sultanas, flour and baking powder
  • Stir the grated apples into the mixture
  • Spoon into a greased flat tin
  • Mix together the remaining sugar and sprinkle over the
    top
  • Bake at gas mark 4/350°F for 1½ hours
