Local arts groups
South Gloucestershire has a wealth of amateur and voluntary groups involved in all kinds of art. If you are interested in joining a local group, from drama to dancing, from quilting to quoting (poetry that is!), the Arts Development Team have links with a range of groups and may be able to put you in contact with one in your area.

Local entertainment
If you are looking for entertainment on your doorstep try a visit to:
- The Ridings Arts Centre in Winterbourne offers music, drama and more
- Music in the Church at Aust is a centre of excellence in early and traditional music
- The Thornbury Arts Festival and Chipping Sodbury Festival promote a varied programme of arts activities
- Razzle is the rural touring scheme for South Gloucestershire and provides professional performances in village halls across the area
Support for arts projects
The Arts Development Team works in partnership with a number of professional arts organisations:
- Acta Theatre Company works with community groups including adults with learning disabilities
- The Asian Arts Agency promotes Asian arts and can advise on project development and finding an artist
- The Kingswood Foundation works with young people and runs a multi-arts summer school
- Poetry Can is the poetry development agency for the area
- Orchard Workshop provides arts and crafts courses for particular groups including the over-55s, adults with learning disabilities and summer schools for young people
- The Creative Learning Agency offers a web-based database of artists and advice for schools and community groups wishing to develop arts projects. They also offer advice and information for artists wishing to work with schools or community groups
The team also has contacts with a range of other arts organisations who have a key role in developing the arts in South Gloucestershire and the wider region.
