Private water supply sampling charges

The Private Water Supplies Regulations of 1991 allow South Gloucestershire Council to charge any relevant person (i.e. owner) of a private water supply for any expenses incurred during sampling and analysis. Charges for this service are set in accordance with the Private Water Supply Regulations of 1991, which can be accessed via the Office of Public Sector Information.

Note A - Coliform parameters include coliforms and Escherichia coli.

Note B - Basic parameters include hydrogen ions, conductivity, total coliforms, faecal coliforms, lead, nitrate, odour (qualitative) and turbidity .

Note C - Additional parameters carry additional charges (see table below) which can be sampled following a specific request from the home owner and prior discussion with an officer from the Environmental Protection section.

We have a statutory duty to test private water supplies for pesticide content 'from time to time'. This does not carry a charge.
