We are taking steps to reduce greatly the number of people injured or killed on South Gloucestershire's roads. Although there are fewer road accidents here than in many parts of the country, there are growing numbers of cars. We still have a lot of work to do to reach the targets set by the government. We have agreed a five-year road safety plan as part of our Local Transport Plan that sets out ways of doing this between 2006 and 2011. It includes educating people about road safety and introducing engineering measures.
