Use of community office space Martin explained how the office space was laid out. BS17 Link & Shop Mobility explained how their projects worked and why they would like exclusive use of an office. BS17 Link now have 2 full time project workers based Carol Zorzo working 3 days per week. They are mostly an office based project. Last year they took 1116 enquiries. Shop Mobility need a central location in the shops. They currently operate for 3 days per week in Yate but would like to expand. There are 400 people currently on their books. A discussion on this resulted in the board members proposing (Granville Olive seconded by Gloria Stephen) that Shop Mobility’s service could operate from the library 5 days a week but they would need to share the office space, maybe having use of the office for 3 days per week.

AOB Active Card – Martin Burton explained about this pilot scheme to combine the database of Library and Leisure Centre members in South Gloucestershire for marketing purposes. This is an excellent opportunity to market the library services to males agreed between 20 and 40 years of age who traditionally use leisure services heavily but not library services. The pilot scheme is being run at Longwell Green LC so is most likely to affect the neighbouring libraries.
Yate Library is hosting author Barbara Erskine on Wednesday 2nd July at 7.30pm. Tickets on sale now. Also look out for various events in September connected with the National Year of Reading.
