We need to tackle the amount of rubbish produced, and South Gloucestershire Council has adopted a policy of not collecting extra rubbish (extra rubbish is rubbish not inside the wheeled bin with the lid fully closed).
You can reduce the amount of rubbish you produce by a combination of recycling and home composting. It also helps to squash plastic bottles, but put the lids back on before putting them in your wheeled bin.
South Gloucestershire currently produces more household rubbish per person compared with many other parts of the UK.
