Processing Building Control Applications
Over the next few weeks, Development Services will start making wider use of email communications for building regulations submissions. Where customers provide us with an email address we will use this as the primary means of communication with them where possible.
Implementation of new Planning and Building Control Public and Consultee Access (PACA) online system
During June South Gloucestershire Council will be implementing a replacement online search planning application facility. The new system will replace the existing service and offers a variety of enhancements to the customer and result in reduced double handling by Council Officers.
The implementation will take place in two phases. The first being the introduction of Public Access side of the system, which will cover all the functionality of the current system but include improvements to the search features, the level of detail retrieved in connection with an application and the addition of a mapping tool. The second phase, scheduled for July/August, will include the Consultee Access solution, where our statutory consultees will be invited to make use of the many benefits the system offers, including case management functionality.
Another exciting benefit of the public access system is the introduction of the search Building Control applications online service.
Introduction of a New Texting Service
South Gloucestershire Council Building Control has recently introduced a new communication channel for our customers.
Building Control customers can now request a site inspection using our new texting service. It’s simple to use and offers greater flexibility for our customers.
Further information on how to use this service can be found in the “Building Control Texting Service” leaflet in the read more section of this page.”
Success at recent LABC awards
No sooner had the new council offices in Badminton Road been officially opened in June by the Lord Lieutenant Sir Henry Elwes, it picked up an award for Best Large Commercial Development in the regional heats of the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Excellence Awards.
Trinity Primary School in Acton Turville also won Best Sustainable Development for its innovative design by the council’s very own architect Nicole Muller. The building was also praised for the wealth of energy saving features at the same LABC awards. Both projects will go on to represent the council at the national final in November
LABC is an organisation that works with local authorities to encourage excellence in technical innovation, sustainability and high standards in the construction industry.
To get involved in next year’s nominations, simply submit your building regulations application through the council and you could be in with a chance of appearing at next year’s LABC Building Excellence Awards.
