Expressing your views on bus services

Most bus services are run on a commercial basis and are not subsidised by South Gloucestershire Council. We do, however, contract commercial companies to provide some services on our behalf. These tend to be rural services, or early, late or Sunday services.

If you have a comment or complaint to make about a commercial bus service, or would like to see changes to a timetable or route, you should contact the relevant bus operator. Commercial bus services are usually those with numbers between 1 and 499.

If you want to comment or complain about a service supported by the council (mainly those with route numbers higher than 500), please contact:

Bus Users UK

You could also join Bus Users UK, a voluntary, non-political organisation which aims to protect and promote the interests of bus passengers. They also run the Bus Appeals Body, which is a national independent organisation that acts as an arbiter in disputes between passengers and operators.

Public transport forum

You can also raise your concerns at a South Gloucestershire public transport forum, held once every four months.

Suggesting a new service

You can make suggestions for new services to either the commercial bus operators, or to the council's Integrated Transport Unit. If no commercial operator is willing to run the service you suggest, the council will consider it – subject to our resources.
