Changes to bus services and diversions


Bus companies can make changes to their services by giving eight weeks' notice to the Traffic Commissioner and the Council. Under certain circumstances, the Traffic Commissioner can give permission for changes at shorter notice. 

Starting 27th September 2008

984  Park & Ride service introduced at weekends between UWE and Broadmead.  The service operates every Saturday and Sunday until 28th December.

Starting 15th September 2008

ULink  New service U5 is introduced between the City Centre and UWE operating via Clifton Down and Henleaze. Revised timetables are also introduced on the other Services U1, U2, U3 & U4.

Starting 3rd September 2008

487  This school service is withdrawn. Alterations to service 963 will provide an alternative facility between Bradley Stoke and The Ridings School.

686  The journey at 0800 from Dunkirk to Katherine Lady Berkeley School is retimed to depart at 0745.

963  The service is rerouted via Bradley Stoke and as a consequence the morning journey operates a few minutes earlier. Between Highwood Road/Coniston Road roundabout and Baileys Court Road the bus will run via Aztec West roundabout, Bradley Stoke Way and Brook Way.

967  The service is operated by South Gloucestershire Bus & Coach but there are no changes to the timetable.

Starting 1st September 2008

440, 441, 442  These school services to Oldfield School are revised. New service 443 is introduced which runs from Eastville and also serves Downend, Staple Hill and Warmley.   

462  An additional journey is introduced at 0855 from Emersons Green to Temple Meads and the evening peak journeys are retimed.

Starting 3rd August 2008

First are changing several services in the district.

1  The timetable is revised.

4  This service is altered to operate daily between Downend and Bristol City Centre and it will no longer serve Kingswood or Hanham.  Between Downend and Bromley Heath the service is re-routed via Badminton Road instead of Westerleigh Road and Westbourne Road.  Changes to service 6 provide links between Hanham, Hanham Common and Kingswood.  Services 318 and 319 provide alternative facilities between Downend and Kingswood.

Most journeys are extended beyond Oldbury Court to start or finish at Downend.

6  The service is extended beyond Kingswood Town Centre to Longwell Green (Aspects) via Hanham Road, Lower Hanham Road, Hanham High Street, Memorial Road, Whittucks Road, Bath Road Stonehill and Marsham Way.  A 30-minute frequency is provided between Longwell Green and Kingswood during the daytime and buses run hourly during the evenings.  There are no changes to frequencies between Kingswood and the City Centre.

7  The timetable is revised.

70  There are minor timing changes to some journeys.

73, 73A &73B  There are minor timing changes to some journeys.

74  The journeys at 0714 and 0757 from Stoke Gifford to the City Centre are withdrawn and the 1755 journey from the City Centre to Stoke Gifford is withdrawn.

318  An hourly service is introduced in the evenings and on Sundays and Bank Holidays to operate between Kingswood Town Centre and UWE.

327  This service is introduced to replace parts of existing services 328 and X30.  It operates hourly during the daytime on Mondays to Saturdays between Yate and Bristol (Bus Station) via Coalpit Heath, Frampton Cotterell, Hicks Common, Winterbourne and Frenchay Hospital.

328  This service is replaced by new services 327 and X27.

329  This evening and Sunday service is altered to correspond with the daytime arrangements on services 327 and X27.

342  The route in Chipping Sodbury is altered - buses in the Yate and Bristol direction depart via Broad Street and Horse Street and buses arriving at Chipping Sodbury run via St Johns Way.  The timetable is revised.

X27  This service is introduced to replace parts of existing services 328, X30, X40 and X42. It operates during the daytime on Mondays to Saturdays between South Yate and Bristol via Yate Shopping Centre, Brimsham Park, Wellington Road, Iron Acton, North Corner, Winterbourne, Hambrook and M32.  An hourly service is operated with additional journeys during peak periods on Mondays to Fridays.

X30  This service is withdrawn. New service X27 provides links from Brimsham Park and North Yate to Yate Shopping Centre and Bristol. New service 327 provides links from Frampton Cotterell to Bristol, Winterbourne and Yate.

X40  This service is withdrawn. New service X27 provides links from Brimsham Park and North Yate to Yate Shopping Centre and Bristol. Service X42 provides an alternative fast link from Yate to Bristol. 

X42  The timetable is revised to correspond with changes to service 342. 

X62  The service is rerouted between Blackhorse and Bromley Heath to run via Westerleigh Road and Downend instead of Blackhorse Lane.  The timetable is altered as a consequence.

99 and X84  These services are withdrawn.

Starting 8th June 2008

There are alterations to the ULink services for the Summer vacation period:
U1, U2 and U3 are each reduced to run during the daytime on Mondays to Fridays. Weekend  operation and the U4 service are suspended until September.

Starting 18th May 2008

950  A rail service is provided through to Severn Beach through the day and so this bus service is discontinued.

Starting 11th May 2008

There are timetable changes on the following First services:-
20, 21, 54, 54A, 70, 73, 73A, 73B, 75 and 75A.

Starting 21st April 2008

79  On Mondays to Fridays certain journeys are rerouted in Bath to serve King Edwards School.

114  This school service is rerouted via Acton Turville and Old Sodbury.

312  On Mondays to Fridays extra journeys are introduced in the peak periods. Consequently the timetable is revised and there are also changes to the Saturday times.

Starting 6th April 2008

41 (Malmesbury - Yate) A revised timetable is introduced following a review by Wiltshire County Council. The operator continues to be Andybus.
 
X25  Additional journeys are introduced operating on Friday and Saturday evenings with support from North Somerset Council.

There are minor timing changes on the following First services:-
5, 20, 21, 75.

There are minor changes to the times of ULink services U1, U2, U3 & U4 and the services are no longer restricted to UWE students and staff.

Diversions affecting bus services

Sometimes it is necessary to put temporary diversions in place, for example due to roadworks or special events.

From Monday 1 September for up to 4 weeks B3124 between Walton-in-Gordano and Portishead X25 Because of highway works being undertaken on the B3124, the X25 is diverted between Clevedon and Portishead. During the closure period the service will operate via the M5 and will be unable to serve the Redcliff Bay area of Portishead. A special timetable will operate on Mondays to Saturdays with buses towards Weston-super-Mare retimed to depart from Cribbs Causeway 5 minutes later than normal. Sunday service X26 is unaffected by the roadworks and will run at the normal scheduled times.
