Trees

Tree picture
The council is responsible for maintaining trees on public open spaces and the verges of many roads. Please contact us if you see a tree that is dangerous or needs our attention.

We also place tree preservation orders on important trees on private land and can control works on trees in conservation areas.

In order to enhance the local environment, we carry out tree planting programmes and administer grants schemes to encourage people to plant more trees. You can also mark birthdays, anniversaries etc. by dedicating a tree in the area.

Please note that we do not give detailed advice about work needed to trees on your land. You can find qualified tree surgeons in the Yellow Pages – remember to check they are adequately insured.
