Consultancy

This involves discussion, advice and support to school staff and parents about: 

  • A pupil's needs following early identification
  • Ongoing advice and support for pupils at School Action Plus stage, with or without a Statement of Special Educational Needs
  • Addressing concerns you raise about a range of issues related to inclusion, achievement and special educational needs

Individual

This includes work with individual pupils at the School Support Plus stage as part of consultation process: 

  • Individual assessment, devising an intervention, monitoring and reviewing an intervention
  • Individual education planning with staff, monitoring and reviewing progress
  • Individual sessions with a pupil addressing behavioural and/or mental health needs

Capacity building 

This entails working with schools to:

  • Reduce bureaucracy associated with Special Educational Needs (SEN) 
  • Reduce IEPs and promote greater use of individual pupil profiles
  • Produce an audit of support and resources in school and link to pupils' needs and provision mapping
  • Encourage the positive behaviour of all pupils dealing with bullying 
  • Provide advice about SEN policies and practice and the revised Special Educational Needs Code of Practice
  • Encourage the inclusion of pupils with particular needs 
  • Encourage target setting for pupils with SEN and monitoring and evaluating progress
  • Encourage working in partnership with parents
