You said you wanted more activities for older people in Staple Hill. We set up ten weeks of activities – including exercise, healthy eating, safety in the home, socialising, walking, dance and making a toilet map!
We want more Choices 4U provision across South Gloucestershire Set up a second session at Yate Leisure Centre that started in July 2010
We want better joining up of children’s and adult services to ensure continuity of support for young people going through transition. We worked with children’s and adult services to agree joint packages across transition the first of which start in September 2010.
You told us you wanted to try tennis during the Active Family Club We incorporated a taster tennis session at Almondsbury Tennis club for families taking part in Active family Club
You told us you wanted more information on activities you can take up in the local community after completing the Active Family Club We put together an Active Family Club information booklet for families which included information activity ideas in the local community
You wanted to know how adults could be used to offer more opportunities to children & young people in a safe and fun school environment. We worked with schools, coaches and organisations to put together Adults Supporting Learning guidance with training/support, so that all parties could feel secure in their processes and young people could be offered more opportunities to be physically active.
You wanted an update on the mend nutrition content. We incorporated a MEND 'nutrition refresher session' into the MEND Graduate sessions.
You said you wanted to run for fun. We organised family fun runs in Patchway and Staple Hill; over 100 people took part.
You said you wanted to learn to swim or return to swimming after a long absence. We held six free courses for over 60s; 60 people took part.
You wanted swimming included in the MEND programme. We set up swimming with Yate Leisure Centre for new MEND members.
You wanted more activity ideas to keep children active at holiday clubs and uniformed groups. We set up the BHF Active Clubs workshops to introduce leaders to activity ideas for use in their clubs.
We needed better booking procedures and joining instructions for the BReakthrough training. We put a more efficient system in place for future courses.
There should be more competition for adults with learning difficulties. We took 11 athletes to this years Special Olympics.
Our booking policy which prioritised juniors before 8pm (weekdays) was not equitable. So we prioritised adults after 8pm (weekdays).
Breakthrough Voice focus group said they wanted information on Breakthrough in a more young person friendly format. We produced a new young persons leaflet and a DVD.
That small schools were unfairly treated at the festival of Youth Sport. We went to small schools and asked what they wanted, small schools decided to enter individually but if more than one in an event then they are to be grouped together to compete.
Children with learning difficulties were struggling in mainstream school Set up a project with the CAMHS service to use mentors to support children with learning difficulties.
It would be good to have a physical activity challenge linked to climbing the stairs. Set up the 3 peaks challenge to get people climbing the stairs through the Active for Life Programme.
There are not enough community based sports sessions for disabled children in South Gloucestershire. Set up 3 weekly sessions across South Gloucestershire for disabled children.
There was no training for young people wanting to get a career in sports coaching. Set up the Coach Apprentice Scheme.
You wanted play schemes to be open for longer with more choice of activities. We extended play scheme provision with a simplified pricing structure.
You wanted access to sports facilities on school sites before ‘community access’ times commenced. We introduced early opening at all three sites during discretionary community use time.
You wanted community access to news sports facilities within school boundaries. We extended the transfer of control agreements to include the news sports hall at YOSC.
