Bradley Stoke - a Sure Start Children's Centre

Introduction

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Bradley Stoke Sure Start Children's Centre.

The centre is operated by a friendly team of workers that can offer support and assistance to parents/carers of preschool children (0-5).  We also have resources and an information service available for you to access; please speak with a member of the team for more information.

Stay and Play

Stay and play is different from other parent and toddler groups. Stay and play aims to support parents with their child's physical, social and emotional development through providing a range of fun and exciting play activities. We are available to parents and families to offer support and information on a wide variety of areas, e.g. childcare provision and work opportunities. 

Due to popular demand, we will now be booking places for Stay and Play sessions to ensure no-one has a wasted journey.  To book, you need to ring on Wednesday mornings to book places for the following Friday, Monday and Tuesday sessions.  Please call 01454 864150.

'Stay and Play' opening times

Monday:  1.15pm - 3.15pm

Tuesday: 9.30am - 11.30am

Friday: 9.30am - 11.30am 

Stay and Play for Dads!

Stay and Play for all Dads and male carers (including Grandparents, Step-Dads and Foster Carers) with children 0-5 years.

We meet on the first Saturday of every month from 10am until 12:00pm.

Information and Advice Sessions

All Sure Start Centres within South Gloucestershire now offer families with young children an information, advice and guidance service. Our Family Information Advisers can help you find out about local services and community provision, such as library services, toddler and preschool groups, local childminders etc. We have information kiosks in every Children’s Centre to help you find out about health services, training and jobs, debt advice, benefit entitlements and much more.

You can either drop-in at the Centre or ring 01454 862675.

Baby Group

This is a structured, with informal elements, 6-week rolling programme based on what you need to know about being a mum and is for babies under 6 months of age.  The group is co-run with a Nursery Nurse and is held on Wednesday afternoons, 12.00 to 2.00pm.  Please ring to book a place.

Targeted Services

The Children's Centre also offers a number of services that are targeted to meet specific needs of families.  This includes working with families in their own homes and specialist groups.  These groups can be accessed by self-referral or a single service referral from any agency.

Childminder Group

This weekly groups aims to support childminders in developing good practice and allowing children they care for to socialise in a good quality play environment.  This group is supported by the South Gloucestershire Childminding Development Worker and is open to all registered childminders.  The group meets on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 until 11.30am.

Groups run by other Organisations

Birth Preference Class

The Community Midwives use the Centre ro run classes for parents/parents-to-be on Thursday afternoons from 2.30pm. 

Breastfeeding Group

The Babies on Boobs Breastfeeding Support Group runs weekly from the Centre on Thursday mornings from 10.00am.

Saturday Tots

This parent-led toddler group meets to enable working parents an opportunity to enjoy a toddler group with their children under the age of 5.  The group runs every third Saturday of the month, from 9.30 to 11.30am.
