A carol service for primary school children from South Gloucestershire schools takes place at Clifton Cathedral each year early in December.
Clifton Cathedral has always been a particularly welcoming venue and the unrestricted view and 'in the round' seating makes it attractive to younger children. A brass ensemble, a string quartet and the cathedral organ accompany the carols. Individual schools are invited to prepare readings and special items.
A rehearsal CD is provided for schools attending. Children from participating schools can enter a competition to design the cover for the programme with a CD of their choice as a prize.
Approximately 1,000 pupils take part each year filling the cathedral, which unfortunately does not allow for parents, family or friends to attend.
