7. Correspondence: it was noted that the notes from other Library Users Groups are available from the South Gloucestershire Library website.

8. Librarian’s Report
The report was discussed noting an increase in numbers attending Storytime (up to 12 children a session) thanks to on-going hard work from staff. Rhymetime is now on a weekly basis due to popular demand.

Neighbourhood Policing Beat Surgeries started on Wednesday 10 February, they will be held in the library on Wednesdays from 2-3pm.

Space Hop, takes place this summer in all South Gloucestershire Libraries and starts on Saturday July 17th. To complete the challenge and get a medal children have to read 6 books by September 18th. We will be running the scheme at Patchway Library but we think our numbers will be lower than in previous years because we will be in the Casson Centre.

The current library closes on Saturday 12 June at 5pm; we will be closed for 2 weeks. The temporary branch will be in the Casson Centre (across the road) from Tuesday 29 June until the new branch opens in 2011.

Our temporary branch will be open slightly different hours because the Luncheon Club uses the Casson Centre on Mondays and Thursdays.
Our opening hours will be:

Tuesday 9.30 – 12.30 / 1.30 – 5
Wednesday 9.30 – 12.30 / 1.30 – 7 *
Friday 9.30 – 12.30 / 1.30 – 5
Saturday 9.30 – 5
* Wednesday 9.30 –12.30 / 1.30 - 7 until Wednesday until 25 August.
9.30 – 12.30 / 1.30 - 5 from Wed 1 Sept 2010
9.30 – 12.30 / 1.30 - 7 from Wed 6 April 2011

There was a discussion about the “Springing into Life” event at Patchway Community Centre on Saturday 10 April. The committee felt that the event would have benefited from better publicity and suggested publicising the event in the Observer, the Western Daily Press and Patchway People.

9. Performance News and Quarterly Statistics
Across South Gloucestershire Libraries as a whole book issues are up by 2%, reservations are up 11%, and on line reservations are up 37%. Issues for all types of stock are up by 2%. On-line renewals are up 35% and account for 12% of issues. Membership is up by 1%. Visits are down by 3%. Visits fell by 3%; this was mainly due to the move to temporary premises by Yate Library during their refurbishment.
Usage figures of on-line resources will be discussed at the next meeting.
Quarterly Statistics to be emailed to Tim, Marilyn and Ken as requested.

10. Library Service plans and strategy
The Library Service Plan and the Patchway Library Service Plan will be available for the July meeting. Staff can print copies of both of these documents on request.
Key issues for the coming year are; Priority Neighbourhoods, extended bandwidth for computer access, working towards the Customer Excellent Service award, supporting council information points, developing the Active Card, developing volunteering in libraries.

11. Building news and arrangements for service delivery at the Casson Centre
Patchway – will be closed form Monday 14 to Monday 28 June and a temporary branch will open in the Casson Centre, Rodway Road on Tuesday 29 June. This is in preparation for the construction of the new Severnvale Locality Hub, opening in autumn 2011.
When we are running Patchway Library from the Casson Centre we will be offering free reservations because we will only be able to hold a limited amount of stock. The details of the internal library layout have not been planned yet.

Bradley Stoke will be closed from 7 June and reopen on Monday 12 July. This is for an extension of the children’s library.

Hanham will be closed from 31 May and reopen on 2 August, this is for an extension on the children and young adults area.

Kingswood will be closed on 3 May and will reopen on 24 May. This is for a refurbishment of the adult library.

Winterbourne will be closed on 7 July and will reopen on Tuesday 27 July, this is for an extension to the library.

This previously circulated report was discussed and South Gloucestershire Library Service already does most of the things suggested in the report with the exception of the availability of E-Books.
