What is the Sustainable School Travel and Transport Strategy?

The duty to promote sustainable travel and transport applies to children and young people 0-19 years old resident in South Gloucestershire and receiving education or training both inside and outside of the authority’s area. The duty relates to journeys to and from institutions, including attendance at early years settings, after school activities and journeys between institutions during the day. This Strategy sets out the Council’s approach to the provision of travel and transport and includes an Action Plan to deliver the changes necessary.

The strategy is based on an assessment of needs and an audit of the existing sustainable transport infrastructure available in South Gloucestershire to enable children and young people to travel to and from or between schools, colleges or other education placements.
