To claim housing benefit you must: - Be resident
- Occupy the home
- Pay rent
- Be entitled to Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance, Guarantee Pension Credit or have a low income
You cannot claim housing benefit if you are a full-time student (unless you are disabled or have children) or if you live in the same household as and pay rent to a close relative.
