In South Gloucestershire we are proud of the partnership that exists between parents/carers, school governors and the Department for Children and Young People.
We hope you will find that the information and guidance you receive when selecting a school for your child demonstrates our complete commitment to providing the best possible education for the children and young people of South Gloucestershire. We feel it is important that parents and carers make an informed decision as to which school they would prefer their child(ren) to attend.
This year the information has been updated to comply with the changes introduced as part of the Government’s new School Admissions Code. The changes include: improving information and advice to families who need it most in choosing a primary school (Choice Advice Service); making special arrangements for the most vulnerable children and promoting fair access for all, through school admission and travel policies.
The information contained in the admission booklets and on this website is intended to help you in the initial stages of the process. However, there is no substitute for visiting any school that you are considering. If you would like help or more information please see our page called 'Choice Advice Service'.
Public Notice
South Gloucestershire Council has determined its admission arrangements for community, voluntary controlled and voluntary aided schools for September 2009-10. In order for parents to express their right to object to the arrangements, the Local Authority has published a public notice - please see the 'Read more' section. The determined policies are available for inspection at the local authority's offices.
