Taxi drivers - Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check

Before we can issue a hackney carriage or private hire driver's licence you need to have a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Checks (or disclosures) identify any previously-recorded criminal convictions.

There are two levels of disclosure:

  • Standard level of disclosure
  • Enhanced level of disclosure

All drivers who work, or propose to work on South Gloucestershire Council transport contracts for schoolchildren or social services clients will require an enhanced disclosure.

There is further information about checks and disclosures on the Criminal Records Bureau website.

How to apply

A request for a CRB disclosure has to be made on a specific form. This can be obtained from the licensing office and should be completed at there. Part-completed CRB forms will not be processed and will be returned. This will delay the disclosure process.

A fee must be paid when submitting your application.
