Celebration of young people's success
What Next, the work experience project for young people aged 15 to 21 who are in the care of South Gloucestershire Council or preparing to leave care held their annual presentation evening in September. Young people have been involved from the start of the project, from the design of the logo to the evaluation of the work placements and were instrumental in the planning of the Presentation Evening.
A group of young people who have been involved in work experience planned this award evening at the Bristol Golf Club for all the young people who had taken part in What Next work and employment experience this year. Sarah introduced the evening, after which Sheila Cook, the Executive Councillor for Children and Young People, presented the awards. Music was provided by Dominic using his considerable talent and personal library of records. Guests were able to view a pictorial presentation of the work experience, which had been designed and edited by Craig. Alistaire and Helena were the other members of the organising group.
This successful evening was a suitable celebration of the hard work and achievements of the young people, their parents, carers and the employers who supported the work experience placements.
