Housing benefit is normally paid from the Monday following the date we receive your application form.
If you make your claim at the same time as making a claim for Income support, Jobseekers Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance or Pension Credit, your housing benefit will normally be paid from the Monday following the date you make your application with either Jobcentre plus or the Pension Service.
If you make your application for housing benefit before you move into the property, we will ask you to complete an occupation form once you have moved in. We will send you this form in the post.
If your application form benefit is late, you can ask us to backdate your benefit entitlement but you must show continuous good cause as to why you didn’t apply sooner.
