If you have trouble using bus services, there is a range of community transport services that might suit you. Services include:
Dial-a-ride offers door-to-door transport. To use these services, you must register with your local scheme and book your journey 24 hours in advance. This service is also free if you have a Diamond Travelcard - see the concessionary bus passes topic link on the right hand-side
Car schemes, staffed by volunteer drivers using their own cars.
Accessible minibuses for hire by community groups. These are provided by community-based voluntary organisations, with financial support and assistance from South Gloucestershire Council.
For more information about accessibility and getting about in the Greater Bristol area visit www.gettingaboutgreaterbristol.org
We also provide free training for volunteer drivers under our minibus drivers awareness scheme. In addition, we support community transport schemes' management committees and help produce publicity material. We also fund the post of rural transport officer within Community Action, along with other local authorities.
