Fees for registrations and ceremonies

 

Births and deaths 

In 2010 a new system of certificate fees was introduced nationally.

Birth or death certificates issued at the time of registration cost £3.50.  A birth or death certificate issued by the Registrar after the date of registration now costs £7.00 until the register is deposited with the Superintendent Registrar.  A birth or death certificate issued by the Superintendent Registrar costs £9.00. 

Marriages

The cost of giving a notice of intention to marry is £33.50, payable payable at the time the notice is given in cash, by card, or by cheque with a valid cheque card.  Each party must give their own notice in person to the Superintendent Registrar.

Register office

Register office wedding, Monday to Saturday: £40


Certificate fee £3.50 for a certificate issued on the day of the wedding.

The cost of a certificate issued after the wedding from a current register is £7.00. 

External venues

Attendance of registration staff at external venues from 1st April 2011 until 31st March 2012:

  • Monday to Friday    £345           
  • Saturday                £375
  • Sunday                   £445
  • Bank Holidays         £445
  • Certificate fee       £3.50 (if issued on the day of the ceremony)

Civil partnerships

The cost of giving a notice of Civil Partnership is £33.50, payable payable at the time the notice is given in cash, by card, or by cheque with a valid cheque card. Each party must give their own notice of Civil Partnership to the Civil Partnership Registrar.

A certified copy of the entry in the Civil Partnership Register costs £3.50 if requested on or before the date of the registration. If requested at a later date the cost is £9.00

Civil Partnership registration, Monday to Saturday : £40

External venue

Civil partnership registration with the ceremony of your choice at approved premises in South Gloucestershire from 1st April 2011 to 31st March 2012:

  • Monday to Friday   £315
  • Saturday               £330
  • Sunday                 £385
  • Bank Holidays       £385
  • Certificate fee £3.50 (if issued on the day of registration)

Naming ceremonies and renewal of vows

Availability at the register office is limited by the number of marriage or civil partnership ceremonies.

Monday - Friday

From 1st April 2011:

Saturday

available at external venues only                                                      £190.00                            

Sunday and Bank Holidays

available at external venues only                                                      £220.00                      

 

If you choose to have the ceremony at the register office the cost includes room hire. If you are using another venue you will have to add the cost of hiring the venue.

A non-refundable booking fee of £50 is payable at the time of booking. The balance of fees should be paid eight weeks before the ceremony.
