What will happen if I park illegally under the new arrangements?
Parking attendants employed by the council are responsible for issuing Penalty Charge Notices to motorists contravening parking regulations.
How much will I have to pay?
Less serious contraventions incur a Penalty Charge Notices for £50 whereas contraventions that are more serious cost £70. A 50% reduction applies if the ticket is paid within 14 days.
How can I pay the Penalty Charge Notice?
You can pay by telephone, on-line, post and in person at our one-stop shops.
What can I do if I don't think that I deserve a ticket?

Can I pay the lower rate parking fine if I’ve not stayed long on the double yellow lines?
The more serious contraventions have been agreed in advance by the Department of Transport and are not at the discretion of the parking attendant.
Will I still be able to get the police to move a vehicle causing an obstruction or danger?
Yes - the police retain these powers under new arrangements.
Will public car parks be included in the scheme?
Yes, the council's public car parks are included in the scheme.
Will the council make money from this scheme?
No. It is a myth that this is a money-making scheme for the council

Do the parking attendants work to targets?
Our attendants do not have targets for issuing tickets
Are the parking attendants on commission?
Parking attendants are directly employed by the Council and are paid a set wage regardless of how many tickets they issue.
