Description of core statutory, core discretionary and discretionary (traded) services delivered in schools.

Core statutory

  • All activities associated with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice at School Action Plus with or without statements
  • Formal assessment and production of Appendix D report for statutory assessment
  • Assessment and report writing associated with the annual review of a statement
  • Attendance at annual review meetings

Core discretionary - non-traded

  • Involvement in priority support for schools in serious weaknesses or in special measures
  • Capacity building activities designed to help schools manage inclusion and SEN issues more effectively
  • Small scale whole staff development and training arising from inclusion/SEN issues of individual pupils or groups of pupils (i.e. addressing a staff meeting)

Discretionary - traded

  • Training - 'Successful teaching of Synthetic Phonics in Key Stage 1, 2 and 3'
  • Behaviour management for school transport escorts
  • Inclusion of disabled children in childcare training
  • Other areas for trading currently being developed
