Under the Licensing Act of 2003 South Gloucestershire Council became the licensing authority for both alcohol and entertainment licensing.
The legislation requires us to make sure the following licensing objectives are met:
- The prevention of crime and disorder
- Public safety
- The prevention of public nuisance
- The protection of children from harm
Also we are required to adopt a licensing policy which sets out how we intend to administer and enforce the legislation. It is based on the statutory guidance issued by the Secretary of State for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and reflects local circumstances as a result of the consultations that have been carried out.
