Park Legally logo
On 31st March 2008, the Council’s parking attendants took on further parking enforcement powers and changes have been made to make the costs of parking tickets more clearly reflect the seriousness of the contravention.

The changes to parking enforcement were introduced by councils across the country under the Traffic Management Act 2004. The aim is to make parking enforcement fairer and more reactive to parking issues.

The police will retain powers to move vehicles which are causing an obstruction or danger to road users.

Only people who park illegally or dangerously will be affected by these changes

What has changed…?

•Two tiers of parking fines
• Zig zag markings
• Changes to how Penalty Charge Notices can be issued
