Located at the junction of Badminton Road and Westerleigh Road, this memorial was erected in the memory of Rev. Philip George Alexander and the members of the 1st Downend Scout Troop, who lost their lives in WWI. Rev. Alexander was a chaplain in the Royal Navy and was the founder of the 1st Downend Scout Troop. He was lost when the 'Hampshire' was sunk in WWI. The parish council agreed to have the war memorial refurbished during 2005 as part of a regeneration programme of works within the Downend area. An annual service of remembrance is held at the memorial.
