Family event at Bradley Stoke Library
18 August 2008
A real Kyrgyz welcome awaits visitors to Bradley Stoke Library on Sunday 31 August with costumes, crafts and music when author Saffia Farr hosts a family cultural event.
Local author Saffia moved to Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia with her husband Matthew when she was fifteen weeks pregnant with her first child. She will be on hand to recount tales of life in Kyrgyz and living in a yurt.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children along to the library and have a go at trying to find Kyrgyzstan on the map and learn some Russian and Kyrgyz words.
Tickets are £2, £1.50 for library members, available from all South Gloucestershire libraries. For more information contact the library service on 01454 868006.
More details about Saffia and her first book Revolution Baby are available on her website at www.saffiafarr.com which contains photographs, articles and chapter one 'Dawn Arrival'. ENDS
