The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier
This is a very moving story telling of the experiences of four children trying to survive in wartime Poland after being separated from their parents. Edek, Ruth, Bronia and their friend Jan are inspired by the silver sword paper knife they find among the ruins of their bombed home which eventually leads them back to a re-union with their parents and a new home for Jan.
