There are more than 2,000 buildings listed as being of historic or architectural importance in South Gloucestershire. These are legally protected and subject to planning controls. There are also many buildings listed as being of local importance.

Owners of historic buildings, whether listed or not, may be able to apply for grants for their maintenance.

There are also historic buildings open to the public.
