The A4174 Ring Road is used by thousands of commuters every day on their routes into, out of and around Bristol.
Traffic growth on the ring road has been almost three times the national average in the past 10 years. The road experiences some of the highest levels of traffic and congestion in South Gloucestershire.
This is not really surprising, given that car availability in some parts of South Gloucestershire is among the highest in the UK, and about 65 per cent of South Gloucestershire residents travel to work by car, compared to 55 per cent nationally.
Tackling congestion
The council is committed to helping reduce congestion on the ring road.
In the last few years, we have carried out a significant amount of work to try to reduce traffic congestion on the ring road.
We will continue to monitor traffic congestion on the ring road.
