The Consultation Draft Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Report and its appendices that accompany the Pre-Submission Publication Draft Core Strategy can be downloaded from the 'read more' box on the right of this page.

The Sustainability Appraisal (SA) process is a way of ensuring that the Core Strategy is compatible with the aims of sustainable development. The SA Report provides information on how the locations for development proposed in the Core Strategy have been appraised and chosen.

The Council has produced the SA Report to accompany the Pre-Submission Publication Draft Core Strategy.  The SA Report is available for consultation and comments can be made on it.

In 2008 the Council also produced an Initial SA Report for consultation to accompany the Issues and Options document and is available in the 'read more' box on the right of this page.  However please note that consultation on this document has now ended and the information contained within it only reflects that emerging proposals in the Government's Regional Spatial Strategy at the time.

The SA Scoping Report is also available in the 'read more' box on the right of the screen.  This was approved by the Council in March 2008 and forms the basis for all Sustainability Appraisals conducted on all the Council's planning policy documents.
