The commissioning body consists of representatives of the three partners responsible for Supporting People, with the local authority being represented jointly by the head of Housing Strategy Services and assistant director of Adult Community Care and Housing, deputy head of Children's Services, the primary care trust being represented by a director of Integrated Care and Avon and Somerset Probation Service being represented by a senior probation service manager.
The key role of the commissioning body is to have strategic oversight of the Supporting People programme. They are responsible for approving the strategy and annual plan, programme budget and monitoring the programme's progress.
Meetings of the commissioning body usually take place 4 times per year.
