What do you need to work out my benefit?

 

There are lots of types of documents that you need to provide with your application. If you do not have all we need do not wait to make your claim you can send us any outstanding evidence as soon as it is available. You must provide original documents as photocopies are not accepted. You can take your documents to a one stop shop if you do not want to post them. If you choose to post your documents, they will be returned to you by post.

When you make your claim we will write to you for any outstanding evidence and you will have one calendar month from the date on the letter to provide the information.

If you are unable to provide the outstanding documents within the allowed time, you should contact us immediately to tell us.

We need to know:

  • Yours and your partners (if you have one) income
  • Yours and your partners (if you have one) capital
  • Yours and your partners (if you have one) identity
  • Details of Income and capital for any other member/s of your household (your benefit may be reduced by a fixed amount depending on the level of income for other members of your household)
  • Evidence of your family circumstances including details of who lives with you
  • Details of the rent you are charged
