Book crawl
Babies, toddlers and pre-school children can join the book crawl every year between October and March. Colourful stickers and certificates are awarded for every visit to the library.
Pre-school storytime
This involves lively sessions for pre-school children and their carers during term time. Come along for stories, rhymes and simple craft activities. Visit individual libraries for more information.
Bounce and Rhyme Times
Join in with the songs and rhymes, bang the drum and have some fun. Make friends and learn new rhymes to share with your baby. Visit individual libraries for more information.
Holiday activities
Beat the boredom during school holidays. Authors and illustrators, puppets and magicians, stories, crafts and fun.
Check out the 'What's on' website - click the link entitled 'View what's on' at the top right-hand side of this page to find out what's happening at your library.
Summer reading challenge
Every year we join in the National Reading Challenge to encourage children to read books throughout the summer holidays. All children joining the reading challenge receive their own bright and attractive folder and earn rewards as they read. Children who read six books over the holidays receive a medal celebrating their achievement.
Chatterbooks
These are reading groups especially for young people to inspire them to read adventurously, develop confidence in expressing their opinions and have a good time reading and talking about books. There are four groups in South Gloucestershire, catering for different age groups at Cadbury Heath, Downend, Filton and Yate.
