Shared use path
 We are developing a network of routes which will link some of the more important locations in the area. The emphasis is in making cycling attractive to everyone; so we need to ensure that routes are direct, convenient, legible and easy to use.

1  Bristol City centre to Parkway station Construction substantially complete     Snagging issues forwarded to contractor in July include: checking correct signage on bollards / positions of bollards / white lining. Additional shared use signing needed. Green coloured surfacing to be applied to route during August (& later, following resurfacing of New Road, Stoke Gifford). Raised crossing over school entrance on New Road to be completed by developer. Direction signing being designed - positions of posts to be marked out.. Link between MoD & HP roundabouts over UWE land is also being designed, (funded separately).
2  Parkway station to Cribbs Causeway Design and consult in 2010/11 Construction developer funded and on-going within the Northfield development, west of the A38
3  Parkway station to Bradley Stoke Construction ongoing Snagging issues forwarded to contractor in July include:
tactiles / crossing on Mead Road incomplete / green coloured surfacing to be applied to route during August / crossing outside Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre programmed for 21st August / bus stops & shelter on Baileys Court Road need relocating / check correct signage on bollards / erect new street lighting lanterns / install dropped kerbs in Diana Gardens. Additional white lining to be completed. Webbs Wood bridge now repaired. Green coloured surfacing to be applied during August. Direction signing being designed - positions of posts to be marked out.
4  Bradley Stoke to Cribbs Causeway Construction ongoing     On-going - construction started 24th March 2010. Still to do: lining & signing in Jupiter Road & Britannia Road, (coordinate with resurfacing programme) / path widening & street lighting between Britannia Road & Coniston Road / Stroud Road link to park / Coniston Road crossing & widening on approaches / ramps at either end of Hempton Lane / complete surfacing on Bradley Stoke Way. Green coloured surfacing to be applied during August. Direction signing being designed - positions of posts to be marked out.
5 Henbury to Cribbs Causeway Programmed for 2010/11 Design route and investigate land issues
6 Bradley Stoke to Cribbs Causeway via Northfield Programmed for 2010/11  Construction developer funded and on-going within the Northfield development, west of the A38
7 Ring Road path Preliminary design subject to scrutiny in December 2009. Consultation started January 2010 Stage ½ Safety Audit completed on 22nd June 2010. Outstanding issues: Prepare Exception Report to Safety Audit / complete/amend detailed design following the outcome of Safety Audit / review need for any service diversions (the likely locations where kerb lines/cycleway/footway are being amended and this needs to be considered are A38 / Elm Park & Ring Road / Filton Avenue) / consultation report to be prepared and issued to all parties that have responded to consultation. Direction signing being designed - positions of posts to be marked out.
8 Emersons Green links to village centre

Construction ongoing    

 

 DEFRA application submitted for consent for works over Rodway Common. Road closures for raised crossing points programmed for July / August. Developer funded shared use link near Sainsbury’s petrol station being designed. Street lighting underway July 2010. Direction signing being designed - positions of posts being marked out.
9 Northern Link to University of West of England Construction substantially complete Substantial completion by May 2010. Snagging drawings issued to contractor on 19th May & 1st June 2010 – includes removal of guard railing / post / white lining / works within Parkway Station. Green coloured surfacing to be applied during August. Direction signing being designed - positions of posts to be marked out.
10 Southern Link to University of West of England Consultation completed     Stage ½ Safety Audit completed in July 2010 – Exceptions Report to follow. Feedback to consultation to follow Safety Audit. Design to be reviewed to consider how many of the route proposals can be progressed.

12 Eastern Link to University of West of England Construction ongoing Snagging issues forwarded to contractor in July include: installing Cycling City bollards / additional shared use signing needed / white lining. 13 Parkway station to Patchway via Filton Programmed for 2010/11 Design and consult on route either side of the Northfield development
14 Emersons Green Science Park link Developer funded route
15 Yate to Mangotsfield Initial landowner negotiations and planning applications submitted Anticipating receiving planning consent and associated conditions by September 2010. Revised brief issued to consultants, (Mouchel), during July - more targeted brief to develop design drawings through to production of land reference plans for the sections Coxgrove Hill to Westerleigh Road, (including Nibley Lane to Rodborough, Yate).
17  A38 road review Order raised with Street Care March 2010 White lining on main A38 scheme programmed for August 2010.

Braemar Avenue / Northville Road roundabout safety scheme subject to Safety Audit in July – implementation will follow Exception Report.

Southmead roundabout scheme modelled to assess impact on capacity of the junction. Design to be reviewed to separate southbound left turning traffic (towards A4174). This scheme also includes improvements at the Elm Park / Charborough Road junctions.

18/19 A432/A4174 cycle review Order raised with Street Care Green coloured surfacing on advance stop lines on A4174 programmed for August 2010. White lining on A432 programmed for Summer 2010.
Links to Warmley & Cadbury Heath School         Site visit with Cycling England advisor in Jan 2010 and subsequently in March 2010 Design and consult on route options during 2010/11
Route signage All routes Consultation period ended October 2009 Posts for signs now delivered. GIS / mapping work underway and sign face design for individual routes on-going
Cycle parking     External consultant has now submitted report listing potential cycle parking sites Contractor continuing with installations started in December 2009. Land owners being contacted where necessary.
