Youth forum - important facts

These are some questions we get asked often about the youth forum. Please feel free to contact us if you require further information or why not come along to one of our meetings?

What is a youth forum?

A youth forum is a group which is formed to represent the views of young people. The South Gloucestershire Youth Forum has been set up to enable the voices of young people in South Gloucestershire to be heard.

What is involved?

To become a member you need to turn up for monthly meetings and take part. One month you may be meeting councillors who want to know what young people care about or helping a young persons organisation improve what they do, or you may be making a video or designing a website. Don't worry if you're not brilliant at public speaking or not the most confident person in the world. Meetings are fairly relaxed, forum members are friendly and supportive and there are opportunities to be involved in training that will help you with all of this.

Who can be a member?

Anyone aged 11- 25 years living in South Gloucestershire can become a member by attending regular meetings.

Is it free?

You don't have to pay to come to meetings and you get free drinks and snacks.

If you find it difficult to get to a meeting help with transport can be provided.

We also go on a few trips a year that you may have to pay for or contribute towards (trips are only available to members who have attended at least one meeting in the 3 months leading up to the trip).
