Whilst our customers are welcome to submit planning applications to us in paper format, the standard planning application form (1APP) has been designed to facilitate online submissions. The intelligent nature of the electronic form enables customers to easily identify the correct planning consent required for the proposed development and links to our Planning Application Requirements.
The Planning Application Requirements (sometimes known as validation checklists) give details of what South Gloucestershire Council consider is required to accompany a valid planning application.
Listed below are some of the many advantages associated with submitting planning applications online:
• Reduction in costs of producing paper plans and details.
• Reduction in postage costs.
• No delays in the postal system.
• Payments online.
• Access to a wide range of published guidance and help.
• The ability to retain your details for any future applications.
• Planning applicants understanding the type and extent of information required of them.
• Provision of greater certainty for the applicant.
• Greater clarity and understanding of the process by all users of the service.
• Enabling local planning authorities to have all the information needed in order to determine the application in a timely fashion.
• Minimising the instances that a local planning authority will need to request further information and therefore reducing the risk that the authority will fail to achieve performance targets.
• Ensuring nationwide consistency in approach to validating and registering application, whilst recognising the need for variation appropriate to local circumstances.
• Encouraging new ways of working within the planning system which will support an almost paperless system.
