Take part in a woodland spring clean

16 March 2010

The Friends of Ridge Wood Community Group, in conjunction with South Gloucestershire Council, are inviting local residents to help take part in the annual spring clean of Ridge Wood, near Yate.
The event takes place on Sunday 21 March between 10am and 12pm.

The aim is to clear litter and rubbish throughout the wood as part of continuing efforts to help with the management of the woodland. With local schools now using the woodland as an outdoor classroom, it is important to keep the woodland free from litter.

Residents who have a few hours to spare on Sunday are invited to come along and help out. Meet on the public footpath at the top of the Melrose Close entrance to the woodland.

South Gloucestershire Council will provide all the necessary equipment including gloves, bags and tools.

Anyone who is interested in helping with the future management of the woodland, and those interested in the wildlife and historical features of the site, are welcome to join the Friends of Ridge Wood Community Group.
