Each home in South Gloucestershire has been given a bag to hold paper for recycling. You can use these in addition to your green recycling box – just put them out on collection day. You might find the bags particularly useful if you find your green box is sometimes very heavy, or if you have trouble carrying the box downstairs.
What can go into the recycling bags?
- Newspapers and magazines (including those with glossy covers)
- Junk mail and leaflets (taken out of plastic wrappers and envelopes)
- White office paper (but not shredded – you can put this inside a box in your green bin)
- Catalogues and brochures (made from paper that doesn't have plastic or metal bindings)
What cannot go into the recycling bags?
- Yellow Pages and directories
- All envelopes
- Cardboard
- Books
- Greetings cards and wrapping paper
- Low-grade papers such as wallpaper and school arts projects
Please do not put your paper in plastic bags before putting it inside the recycling bag – they are for paper only.
